COMPARISON

Retrospectives are one sprint event.
Performalise is the whole intelligence layer.

Parabol is a meeting tool that excels at facilitation. Performalise is continuous coaching that turns every ceremony into measurable behaviour change, and coaches teams between meetings.

Both great, different scopes
Which one is right for your team?

Parabol and Performalise solve different problems. The question is what you need.

  • Quick ceremony setup and facilitation
  • Customisable meeting templates
  • Anonymous feedback collection
  • Real-time multiplayer grouping
  • Slack automation and summarisation
  • Low cost, easy onboarding

Performalise is for leaders who need...

  • Predictability forecasting (±weeks not ±months)
  • Team health and engagement measurement
  • Executive portfolio visibility
  • Product discovery validation pipeline
  • Kaizen Engine
How it's different

Dashboards observe. Performalise anticipates, then positions.

One team, one sprint, the same signal travelling left to right.

Observe
What actually happened?
Said vs did: PERF-214 called blocked in standup. The board still says in progress.
Unplanned work: PERF-230 added mid-sprint, tied to no sprint goal.

Observed from standups, tickets, commits and deploys. Nobody typed a status.

your dashboards stop here
Anticipate
What does it mean for what's ahead?
Goal confidence heading for 40–55% by sprint end.
Q3 release: 67% chance of slipping three weeks or more.

Read two ways: from this team's own behaviour, and from what is already heading its way, so the manager can position before it lands.

Position
Which outcome matters most right now?
Faster? Split the run-the-business work out of the sprint
Higher value? Hold scope, move the date
Higher predictability? Re-scope to protect the goal
The move

Park the unplanned work and re-anchor the sprint goal. Goal confidence rises from 40–55% to 65–75%.

You pick the outcome. Performalise shows the move, the trade-off, and who needs to know. Never a score, never a pre-selected answer.

That last column is what "Powered by choice" means: the manager chooses the outcome, the tool shows the move. See the full platform →

Who is Performalise not for?

We would rather tell you now than after a sprint. Performalise is not the right fit if:

  1. You want individual productivity scores. We measure patterns, not people. There are no per-person leaderboards.
  2. Your teams do not work in Jira, Azure DevOps, Linear or Asana. Those are the front doors today. Other trackers are also supported, just talk to us.
  3. You want a dashboard and no coach. The signal only becomes value when the AI Coach Hans or Lotte act on it inside the team. If nobody wants coaching, you would be paying for reports, which would be sad.
  4. You want velocity as a productivity target. Velocity is a planning signal for the team that owns it. We will not turn it into a KPI or compare it across teams.
  5. You measure success in output. Story points closed, tickets shipped, commits per week. We tie work to outcomes: usage, retention, OKR movement. If output is the scoreboard, the signal will keep disagreeing with it.
  6. You want the objectives to look fine. Every goal on the ladder carries its real confidence, read from what teams said and did this week. Leadership sees the threat early and is expected not to look away. A tool that colours things green for the meeting is a different tool.
  7. You want a date, not a range. Forecasts arrive as ranges (±4-6 weeks across a portfolio) with the confidence behind them. If a single promised date is required, we will disappoint you honestly rather than precisely.

Common questions
Parabol vs Performalise
Does Performalise replace Parabol?
No. Parabol is excellent at facilitating agile ceremonies. Performalise doesn't replace it, it complements your existing workflows. The key difference: Parabol helps you run meetings better. Performalise helps you make continuous improvements between meetings through AI coaching, analytics, and behaviour change. If you're using Parabol, Performalise adds the signal layer that makes every ceremony more effective, drawn from what teams actually do between meetings.
Is Performalise just for retrospectives?
No. While Performalise has powerful retrospective facilitation, it's much broader. It covers sprint planning, standups, team health checks, product discovery validation, delivery forecasting, value prioritisation, and continuous coaching between ceremonies. It's a continuous intelligence layer, not a ceremony tool.
Which is better for large organisations?
Parabol scales well for ceremony execution across many teams. But for large organisations managing multiple portfolios, Performalise delivers portfolio-level visibility, executive dashboards, predictability forecasting, and cross-team coaching at scale. Performalise is built for leaders who need visibility and control across 20+ teams.
How does Performalise handle retrospectives differently?
Performalise facilitates retrospectives with AI-guided prompts based on sprint data, anonymous feedback collection, automated action tracking, and most importantly, a Kaizen Engine that turns retro actions into lasting behaviour change. Parabol is excellent at meeting facilitation and templates. Performalise turns what you discuss into measurable improvement.
What about pricing?
Parabol is free for small teams (2 teams, 10 meetings/month) and scales to $8/user/month. Performalise is priced per team; current plans are on the pricing page. Performalise is a different product category, you're paying for AI coaching, continuous analytics, delivery forecasting, and portfolio visibility, not just meeting facilitation. For organisations managing delivery risk and team health at scale, Performalise ROI typically exceeds cost within the first quarter.
